Meet us at the 2023 Seattle Anarchist Book Fair
No gods, no masters, only books!! Rewild Salish Sea will be tabling at this amazing event, sharing a table with the Duwamish Solidarity Group. It's the 11th year for the fair, gathering revolutionary authors, publishers, and workshop leaders all in the same spot.
The 11th annual Seattle Anarchist Book Fair
The Vera Project, Seattle Center (map)
August 26-27, 11 am - 5 pm
While anarchists are often portrayed through direct confrontations with the state and capitalism, a book fair allows a space where people have more of an opportunity to converse, exchange ideas, and hopefully, learn from each other. There will be workshops on both days.
Radical anarchist politics have a storied history in the Pacific Northwest, and it's worth learning more about. Did you know that Port Angeles has socialist roots in the Puget Sound Cooperative Colony? And that the Home anarchist community outside of Tacoma ignited controversy over nude bathing in 1911?
From the organizers:
The Seattle Anarchist Book Fair is an opportunity for old friends to come together or out of the woodwork, for new connections be made, and for those new to anarchy to have an opportunity to engage with the many and varied perspectives of what has been called the Beautiful Idea.
While anarchists are often portrayed through our direct confrontations with the state and capitalism, a book fair allows a space where people have more of an opportunity to converse, exchange ideas and, hopefully, learn from each other.
Here we can find commonalities and intersecting goals, as well as further flesh out those places where our projects and desires diverge.
